- Software errors in cell phones are common and can result in your phone not working as intended. If your LG Dare’s touchscreen stops working, it’s often because of an error in your software. Restarting your phone should clear any errors and return the phone and the touchscreen to normal operation. Restarting the LG Dare is similar to rebooting a computer. None of your data is deleted when restarting the device.
- The LG Dare has several buttons on the front and sides of the phone that perform different actions when pressed, including turning the phone on and off. To turn off the phone, press and hold the “Power/End” button until the screen turns off. The “Power/End” button is located in the row of buttons below the screen. It has a symbol of a telephone handset above a circle with a line in it. Once the phone is off, press and hold the “Power/End” button until the screen turns on to restart the phone.
- You may find that you are unable to restart your phone using the standard restart method because the phone doesn’t turn off when you hold down the “Power/End” button. When this occurs, you need to remove the battery to force the power off. To remove the battery, slide the battery cover on the back of the LG Dare toward the top of the phone and then lift off the cover. Slide your fingernail between the notch at the top of the battery and the battery compartment, lift up and then pull the battery out of the compartment. The phone will shut off. Reinstall the battery so that the battery’s contacts touch the contacts in the compartment and then replace the battery cover. Press and hold the “Power/End” button until the screen turns on to restart the phone.
- If the LG Dare touchscreen freezes regularly, resetting the phone to the factory defaults may solve the problem. Restoring the phone erases all of your personal information, data and programs you installed on the phone. When the restoration is complete, the phone will be in the same state it was when you first opened the box. To perform a factory data reset, touch the “Menu” icon. Select “Settings & Tools,” “Phone Settings” and then “Security.” Enter your phone’s lock code, which is the last four digits of your phone number if you didn’t change it. Tap “Restore Phone,” read the message about losing your data and tap “OK.” Enter your lock code a second time. The phone will shut off during the reset and then turn on again.
