I have been following Beyoncé since I was a little girl.
I can even understand her song where she sings, "I know when you were little girls you dreamed of being in my world.
" I feel like every single decision she makes professionally is from a place of pure genius.
Am I weird about that since I don't know her? Maybe lol.
I'm team beyhive without a doubt so there will be a certain EXTREME level of bias for all things Bey.
However, the most interesting thing about her that I respect like no one's business is the way she cares for her daughter.
The criticism of Blue Ivy's hair tells us a lot about our society.
It's not about the fact that I love Beyoncé because I do.
It's about the lack of humanity of someone criticizing a small child.
It's about the gut wrenching feeling Beyoncé must feel as a mother when she sees a petition to "comb" her child's hair.
I'm sure yes she's rich and people are maybe assuming their opinion doesn't affect her.
Doesn't anyone care about Blue's opinion as a young child when she grows up and reads these messages? People are so determined to voice their opinion that they would go to any length to share it.
I even saw a picture that North West made Blue Ivy look like a crack head in comparison.
That's another example of what's a clear reflection of our culture.
The mixed race baby being praised for her appearance in comparison to the 100% black baby.
I am glad Beyoncé is not replying to any of the ignorance, but it's sad that people can't see her stance on her daughter's hair for what it is: her business.
It's Beyoncé's business that she sees her child as beautiful with her natural hair and doesn't feel the need to flat iron, texturize, and/or perm it.
Since when did a celebrity's life become our personal business? They perform for us and that's it.
Meanwhile, the public starts to create a culture where they feel like they own these entertainers souls and get to criticize and bash them at their leisure.
Beyoncé doesn't owe anyone an explanation as they stalk her child.
The child Blue Ivy does not appear to be neglected in any way shape or form.
She should be allowed to grow up without people bullying her on the internet.
Blue Ivy is heir to a hip hop dynasty, but no one has any right to her beyond her family.
As a woman who wears her hair natural I can be walking down the street where a bum yells at me to do my hair.
Meanwhile if I tell him to get a job I'm mean.
I used to straighten my hair every single day and perm it every 6-8 weeks like it was my full-time job.
Then one day I stopped myself from putting a perm in my hair because I accepted my hair was never going to be straight even after flat irons and perms.
I in no way did it to stand for anything other than accept that's the way my hair grows.
I comb it in the shower and I wash it often.
I take hair and nail vitamins to ensure my hair grows, but I am often told to "comb my hair" even when I washed and combed it.
I straighten my hair and then get it braided, but that's a style.
That's not me combing it.
The idea that any woman of color is not combing her hair is interesting since we would grow dreads otherwise.
Blue doesn't have dreads.
Even if she did then that would be Beyoncé and Jay's decision.
My opinion is that since Beyoncé is allowing her daughter to grow up with her hair natural then it's going to grow long and beautiful.
She probably will have hair down to her butt or longer.
Beyoncé wears hair extensions because she's constantly performing so she of all people must know how precious the gift of being allowed to be yourself really is.
When it comes to Blue's hair? Well played Bey.
Well played.
