- Nissan introduced the Sentra coupe and sedan in 1982. Targeting the growing base of fuel-conscious consumers, the Sentra initially failed to impress in terms of overall value and image. However, the Nissan Sentra has survived for six generations and has proved just how fuel-efficient and sporty it can be for those with a small wallet. In 1991, the Sentra SE-R variant was introduced, and obviously Nissan got something right because the SE-R is still produced today. Among five other variants, including the SE-R Spec V, the 2011 SE-R sits one level from the top of the Sentra lineup.
- The 2011 Sentra SE-R comes with a 177-horsepower, 2.5-liter, inline four-cylinder engine. With an 89 mm bore, 100 mm stroke, and 9.6:1 compression ratio, the engine achieves maximum horsepower at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 172 pound-feet at 2,800 rpm. The SE-R is capable of 24 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, or an overall range of 350 to 440 miles with its 14.5-gallon tank full.
- The 2011 Sentra SE-R comes with an Xtronic two-speed CVT transmission with overdrive. The CVT (continuously variable transmission) provides stepless gear ratio changes to keep the engine in the ideal part of its power range. Overdrive allows the engine to achieve greater fuel efficiency while reducing engine wear. Nissan equips the 2011 SE-R as front-wheel drive with electronic stability control, four-wheel disc brakes, gas-pressurized shocks, and rack-and-pinion steering.
- The 2011 Sentra SE-R supports seating for up to five people with front bucket and rear bench seats. Cloth seat and door trim come standard with the SE-R, as well as power locks and power windows. A power sunroof is available for the 2011 SE-R. Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, side-impact beams, driver and passenger front and side-impact airbags, and first and second row overhead curtain airbags.
