In the article 'Antibacterial treatment of early Lyme disease prevents late complications' [Drugs & Therapy Perspectives 1999 Sep 13; 14 (6): 5-7] it incorrectly stated that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the US has developed a set of diagnostic criteria for surveillance and clinical diagnosis of Lyme disease. The diagnostic criteria developed by the CDC outline a clinical case definition and are used for national reporting of Lyme disease. They are not appropriate for clinical diagnosis.
