My friend Caryn is definitely not the social butterfly of the world, and never has been as long as I've known her. She's always been the awkward girl in the corner of the room, the nerdy little shy thing that nobody notices.

Most girls growing up with her gave her the weird little look that signified that they saw her, but did not see her as a threat. She has a few friends in this world, and we all laugh because we are all the same.

The older singles dating crowd was never something that we could get into. Once you are branded a nerd, you are always a nerd. However, none of the men in our circle are what you would call boyfriend material, at least to us.

It wasn't until one of our guy friends came in with a date one day and introduced us all that Caryn first got introduced to the idea of dating someone from the Internet. None of us in our circle ever expected our friend to have a date. He was even more socially awkward than Caryn was, but there he was with a date! They were the perfect match!

I have never seen him happier. In fact, I want to know where they met. I mean the older singles dating in the world that meet in bars and go rock climbing for first dates is not our cup of tea. How did he get a relationship started? The next possible chance we could, we all asked where they hooked up at. I couldn't believe it when he told me.

Caryn went home that same night and jumped on to the website and filled out the questionnaire. It took a couple awkward dates before she met Jean, and she never expected to be the center of one man's world like she is today. She never expected anyone in this world to get her like Jean does.

Caryn is part of the older singles dating crowd now. She's still the shy girl though and always will be.
