Get to Sleep Without Drugs!

Going to sleep at night is something that a lot of people look forward to.
If you're anything like me, however, it can lead to a frustrating situation.
I'm laying there, tired as anything, ready to go to sleep, but all I can do is think of random things.
Whether its the day's events, or just me thinking about the fact that I need to get to sleep.
I know a lot of people suffer this same problem.
It might be on a nightly basis (like me) or it might be once in a while.
Either way its very frustrating and can go on for hours.
There have been nights when I didn't fall asleep until the wee hours of the morning.
It often seems that as time passes, and your laying there, you get more and more frustrated, and exasperated with the fact that you can't get to sleep.
It starts to feel like it will never happen.
Inevitably the next day isn't very peasant! So what can a person do when they are faced with this problem? I think we all know that there is drugs out there, whether they are prescription or over the counter, that will put you to sleep.
I have never liked the idea of taking drugs to get to sleep.
It is true that they are often habit forming, and can have multiple side effects.
So how do you get to sleep without drugs? The best thing that anyone can do, if you have this problem often, is get on a sleep schedule.
This will train your body to go to sleep at the same time each night.
I know that most people reading this are probably looking for a solution immediately.
So what if you need help tonight? Well if you want to get to sleep without drugs, there is a number of things you can try right now, or anytime you have this problem.
Here they are: -Take a warm shower or bath -Go for a short walk -Listen to ambient music on headphones -Don't look at the clock -Concentrate on your breathing -Stretch very slowly and thoroughly These aren't going to work for everyone, but if you give them a shot, you'll stand a much better chance of going to sleep.
The most important thing to do if your dwelling on the fact that you can't sleep, is think about something else.
Try to concentrate on one thing to settle your mind.
Good luck, and good night.
