How to Determine Outboard Motor Height

    • 1). Measure the height of the boat's transom from the center down to the lowest point of the hull. This will tell you the height of the shaft for the outboard.

    • 2). Measure the outboard motor from the top of the mounting bracket clamp to the bottom of the cavitation plate over the propeller.

    • 3). Compare the two numbers. The height of the outboard's shaft must be the same height or a little longer than the boat's transom.
