Finale 2011 Vs. Finale 2010

    Lyrics

    • Finale 2011 improves the way lyrics are handled. Extra space is removed and ties and slurs are handled more intuitively, allowing lyrics to show correctly with less correction by the composer. Verse numbering, hyphenating and word extensions have been automated in Finale 2011, further reducing the input required to create the score.

    Playback

    • Playback options are expanded for Finale 2011. the number of sounds included from the makers of the Garritan Personal Orchestra is increased to over 375, including instruments with different player versions to improve the richness of your scores. Garritan's Aria music player, which is fully integrated with Finale, is updated to make MIDI setup changes easier, including a new interface, the ability to save ensembles and reverb.

    Fonts

    • Three new fonts are included for notating percussion sounds. Some publishers use graphic representations of percussion instruments on scores, and Finale 2011 now supports this. AlphaNotes font is added with 2011 also; this is a font geared toward music education for younger players. Note names are included in the head of each note to make the early stages of sight-reading easier, and emoticons have been added to offer an element of fun.

    Chords

    • Support for chords has been improved for Finale 2011. Automatic capo chords can be created, appearing instead of or alongside regular chords. Improved chord functions allow you to delete notes for inversions and open chords without changing the name of the chord itself, and you can now enter chords by name before entering notes, as well as creating chord-only lead sheets.
