- 1). Pour liquid propane into the base of the lantern using a filtered funnel. The base should have a simple metal cap that can be unscrewed to fill the base with fuel.
- 2). Unscrew the thumbscrew on top of the lantern and remove the top.
- 3). Remove the glass shield that protects the lantern's mantle area.
- 4). Remove any old mantle material and install the new mantle by slipping the open end onto the lantern's propane exhaust tube, tying the mantle onto the tube to secure it.
- 5). Replace the glass shield and the lantern top, securing the thumbscrew to hold them in place.
- 6). Add pressure to the gas chamber using the thumb pump on the side of the base, turning the pump clockwise to seal the pressure after pressuring.
- 7). Light a match and insert it into the lantern body, coming up from the bottom, and open the gas valve.
- 8). Adjust the lantern's brightness by opening or closing the gas valve.
- 9). Set the lantern on a stable flat surface or hang it in a secure location.
