Unique Halloween Costumes for Newborns

    Rock 'n' Roll

    • Dress up your newborn like your favorite musical artist, preferably someone eccentric and easily recognizable. To transform your bundle of joy into outrageous rocker Gene Simmons from KISS, dress him in a leather jacket, black leather choker -- loosely fitting, of course -- and black gloves with the fingers cut off. Use non-toxic face paint to whiten his face and draw black stars around his eyes. Instead of boldly coloring in the stars, only draw the outline to keep as much paint away from your little one's eyes as possible. Other rock 'n' roll outfit examples include David Bowie, Joan Jett, Elvis and Michael Jackson.

    Hollywood

    • As your child gets older, he will likely pick costumes based on characters in his favorite television cartoons or animated movies. Until then, pick a costume from own favorite movie. Such a costume will be a big hit among adult friends, especially if the movie is not exactly kid-friendly. Think Ron Burgundy from "Anchorman," Dr. Evil from "Austin Powers" or Jack Sparrow from "Pirates of the Caribbean." You can also piggyback ideas off of celebrities' outrageous red carpet fashion statements, such as Lady Gaga's meat dress, for example.

    Scary Baby

    • Include your newborn in traditional, scary Halloween festivities. Using a mixture of makeup and clothing, transform her into a zombie, vampire, skeleton or other frightening character. This is also a great idea for parents on a budget, since a zombie costume can consist simply of old clothes that have been purposely torn and dirtied. Your child is also likely to enjoy his costume since he can wear normal-fitting clothing. Just don't let her look in the mirror.

    Mini-Me

    • This is a simple way to dress up for Halloween with your child without actually having to dress up. Wear your typical work outfit -- scrubs, old clothes and a tool belt, safety vest or other uniform clothing -- and create a matching ensemble for your child. Some child-sized uniforms are available for purchase, while others may require you to put a few sewing skills to use. Because most young children enjoy dressing up like their parents, your child will love looking back through pictures of his first Halloween costume, dressed just like you.
