- Apo-Doxazosin is classified as an alpha-adrenergic blocker. It allows blood vessels to relax and widen, improving blood flow. Apo-Doxazosin also relaxes muscles in the bladder neck and prostate, allowing for easier urination.
- Side effects with Apo-Doxazosin use include dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, difficulty breathing, drowsiness, dry mouth and eyes, fatigue, headache, loss of appetite and swelling (edema).
- Apo-Doxazosin side effects usually disappear within a few days as the patient's body adjusts to the medication.
- If side effects continue or become worse, the patient should contact his health care provider. A patient using this medication should not suddenly discontinue its use, as doing so can make the original condition worse.
- Although unlikely, Apo-Doxazosin causes some men to experience a painful and prolonged erection. This calls for immediate medical attention because it can lead to permanent damage. Additionally, any patient who has taken Apo-Doxazosin and is scheduled for eye surgery should inform the eye doctor to avoid possible complications.
