All Terrain Vehicles - The Ultimate Check List

Not all vehicles are created equal. Some are suited for the modern urban jungle of asphalt, tarmac and the likes, while others are tuned for off road action. These utility vehicles are designed to take on anything that nature throws their way. Getting one of these vehicles can be a real lifesaver. The trick is getting the right off road 4--4 vehicle, since there are so many of them available. Luckily, here is a check off list to ensure just about any enthusiast out there gets a truck custom suited to fulfill any driver's off road rage.

The equipment that comes with the ride is definitely worth considering before settling down on a purchase. Chrome finish is not enough justification to purchase an off road SUV. Remember, these vehicles are primarily made with utility at the helm.

Tire Arch Kit
The vehicle should be equipped to handle any adventure thrown at it. At the least, an off road vehicle should feature a wide track arch kit. This protects against any embarrassing moments, for example, being stuck in a shallow mud pits, or worse, inability to navigate in snowy conditions, which are a bit of a common place. As a basic rule in the off road driving scene, nothing short of a hurricane should stop drivers, the vehicle has to ensure this.

The Front Grille
Second, the steel front grille, which has become more of a necessity more than a feature, must be there. A stainless steel variant is better. This is of maximum use, as most enthusiasts know, with more uses than one could imagine. Combined with a winch, the grill plays an important role when it comes to getting out of hairy situations as well as providing a launching pad for most off road tasks.

Horse Power
This is of course assumed with almost all terrain vehicles. The higher the horse power, the better, but of course there is a down side to this. Horse power is exponentially related to fuel consumption. However, any off road activity requires more than just the regular horse power. Depending on the intended use of the vehicle, the horse power should always match it or exceed it where possible. It is better to pack a gun to the proverbial knife fight, so to speak.

Horse power equals engine power. Coupled with the right gear box- a manual gear box-, this translates to one powerful machine capable of tackling just about any obstacle the off roads have to offer. Any enthusiast knows how it feels to sit behind all that power. It is an experience like no other.

Fuel Consumption
Of course, this is a major consideration with the sky rocketing gas prices. The vehicle must offer power, but at the same time insulate the owner from the fuel price pinch. This is a rule in the motor industry, and off road adventures are no exception.

These four factors should help choose the perfect off road truck, under any circumstances, or budget.
