Great motorcycle gifts and motorcycle accessories for real bikers are a dime a dozen. (Well, not really. That's just an expression. Some are quite expensive.) Harley Davidson dealers have entire sections of their stores dedicated to biker gifts and biker accessories. So many items, which are purchased for motorcyclists, are like the cheesy little snow-globes with Santa on a Harley, or a customized back scratcher with a motorcycle engraved on the handle. The biker recipient then politely tells the giver that it is wonderful and "thank you so much...just what I wanted," and puts it on the shelf with his 17 other snow-globes and back scratchers that he has received over the years. What a real biker wants is a gift or accessory that is unique and utilitarian.
There are gift ideas out there that are fun and useful. One such manufacturer produces products that can actually be used on or with the motorcycle. Doing a simple Google search for "motorcycle waving arm," or "fuel tank tamper" will guide you to several places that offer unique gift items the real biker can use. One even has a rocket launching system [http://franktherealbiker.com/RockerLauncher.cfm?] that is purported to be able to zero in and destroy cars and light trucks that have committed a traffic faux pas in which they nearly ran you over. Now THAT is a handy thing to have on a motorcycle.
There is a fuel tank tamper available, too. The FTT,
as it is called, uses a scientific breakthrough that actually condenses the fuel in a tank so it takes up less room, allowing one to dispense up to 6 gallons of fuel into a 5 gallon tank. If a biker gets 40 miles per gallon, that would give him another 40 miles on his fuel range. Riding across the desert where gas stations are few and far between, an additional 40 miles might mean the difference between making it to the next convenience store or sitting on a rock under the sun as you wait for someone to come help you.
Another very handy item is the Motorcycle Waving Arm. This gadget is a folding arm that mimics the common "low wave" that motorcyclists and real bikers give to each other when the meet on the highway. Waving etiquette is complex, but this device eliminates the need for any thought about it. As you ride the highways and country roads, the waving arm is always there to indicate that you are watching and being friendly...all the while you are keeping both hands on your handlebars for complete control. That factor is important. Waving is meant to be a sign of camaraderie. If you aren't keeping control of your bike and accidentally run into an oncoming biker as you are trying to wave, it will effectively destroy any amicable feelings between the two of you.
So, check out some of the more unique biker accessories for "real bikers." Surely you know at least one of them. They will appreciate the thoughtful gift.
