- Those found to have less than .1 gram of cocaine may not face jail time but might face either a misdemeanor or felony charge. Those found with between .1 and 2 grams are typically sentenced to between two and eight years in prison and face fines up to $50,000 (as of 2010). Someone with more than 30 grams of cocaine is subject to sentences ranging from 10 years to 30 years and fines up to $1 million.
- Repeat offenses can result in double fines and repeat offenders (three offenses in a 12-month period) face a mandatory 30-year jail sentence.
- Those 21-years-old and older convicted of cocaine trafficking, or as defined by Mississippi, selling more than 2 ounces of cocaine in a 12-month period, are to be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
