A bout of sickness will build one afraid to eat too. Adults can although this fears though they will continue to be careful. But a child may become afraid of food
Today practically angry mother complains that her young kid is a troublesome eater.
She says that she has to Cox, cajole makes special dishes and tell a story for angry mouthful her toddler reluctantly swallows.
She must take the child on to the balcony and point out buses and birds and cars of different colours,
She says that she also dreads mealtimes with her loud, articulate and spoilt older child too and therefore often weakness and allow pizzas and burgers and French fries to be ordered in.
Why do kids fuss to eat normal meals these days? Perhaps the most important reason is that nowadays the don't get enough exercise to work up a good appetite.
There are few playgrounds available to them in crowded cities and playing in the streets and lanes as children used to even one generation ago, is a strict no-no because of the traffic.
Then there's the actual fact that many children are given far too much attention from their baby days onwards. Every whim and casual demand is pandered to and they end up spoilt, finicky and difficult to please.
Too several goodies are paraded before them and them end they get used to behaving like little princes.
The result they will eat chocolates and ice creams but not Dal-Chawal and vegetables.
Their parents moan about obesity and rotting teeth but are psychologically unable to discipline their children because of feelings of guilty caused by knowing that they are too busy with their own careers to give them enough attention.
Another reason for their near paralysis when it comes to being strict with their children is their excessive preoccupation with a single chick often born late in life
Such parents just have to get their acts together. In order to get their child to eat without making to much fuss, they have to become hard hearted and oblivious to tantrums.
Healthy food must be put in front of the child at mealtimes and she must be told to eat.
There must be no pleading or cajoling, no bribes should be offered and no punishments threatened.
If she doesn't eat she shouldn't be scolded and the food should be removed from in front of her, but she should be given nothing else to eat till the next mealtime.
No biscuits, chocolates or other snacks even if she lies down on the floor and screams with anger and hunger
A few days of such treatment and she will be chastened and hungry and will realize that the food she is given isn't bad and she will begin to eat. And parents needn't worry.
A few days of eating very little will not affect the child's health while the long term advantages of such disciplining are immeasurable.
Your child will learn the lesson that the world can be a tough place, she will learn to accept authority - and just imagine the relief of having the will she eat today worry off your mind.
