2004 Toyota Tundra Specifications

    • Toyota introduced its first full-size pickup truck, the Tundra, in 2000. The 2004 version of the Tundra was available in four trims: Regular Cab, Access Cab and Double Cab and styling was largely unchanged from the 2003 model year. Like other pickups, the truck came in a variety of packages, including two-wheel and four-whee drive, a Stepside Access Cab, an SR5 Double Cab and a Limited Double Cab.

    Engine

    • The 2004 Tundra came with either a 4.7-liter V8 engine or a 3.4-liter V6. The 4.7-liter V8 engine produced 240 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 315 foot-pounds of torque at 3,400 rpm, while the 3.4-liter V6 produced 190 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 220 foot-pounds of torque at 3,600 rpm.The Tundra came as either a four-speed automatic overdrive or five-speed manual overdrive transmission, with either four-wheel or rear-wheel drive. However, only the rear-wheel 2WD and SR5 Access Cab 4WD , both front and rear-wheel drive, were available with the five-speed manual transmission.

    Size and Capacity

    • The 2004 Toyota Tundra was 218.3 inches long, 75.2 inches wide, 70.5 inches high and had a wheel base of 128.3 inches. The Tundra had a curb weight of 3,925 pounds, gross weight was 5,500 pounds, a maximum payload of 1,575 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Fuel efficiency ranged from 14 mpg to 16 mpg for city driving and from 17 mpg to 20 mpg for highway driving, depending on trim type.

    Safety

    • The 2004 Tundra came with anti-lock brakes and front passenger and driver airbags as standard in all vehicles. The truck received a four-star driver and passenger front-impact safety rating, and a five-star front side-impact safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety gave the Tundra a "Good" rating in structural safety, head and neck protection, chest protection, restraint and left leg protection. Right leg protection received a "marginal" rating.
