New Year's Eve is packed with entertainment for those lucky enough to be in attendance at the world-famous Sydney Harbour.
Some 1.
5 million people flock to the location every year for the festivities, which usually start in the early evening with a pre-show extravaganza.
This year, attendees will be treated to a special aerial show high up above the harbour.
The display will then be followed by the Indigenous Smoking Ceremony, which see a number of vessels take to the harbour's waters to cleanse it of negative spirits.
As a show of respect to the Gadigal people of Eora - who inhabited the Sydney area long before British settlers arrived on Australian shores - an Acknowledgement of Country ceremony will also take place.
Families can then enjoy a fireworks display lasting for eight minutes that is set to a soundtrack comprising songs drawn from popular kids' films and the pop music world.
After this, visitors will be able to take in the stunning sight of over 50 tall ships, commercial charter boats, ferries and Sydney's Heritage Fleet making their way around the harbour on a 15 km circuit while decorated in bright lights.
It is after the Harbour of Light Parade that the grand finale occurs.
At midnight, an impressive fireworks display that will have been 15 months in the making will bring Sydney's skies to life in spectacular fashion.
This year's Bridge Effect - which sees Sydney Harbour Bridge adorned with a special illuminated design every New Year's Day - will also be revealed to attendees.
If you're planning on seeing more of Sydney after the celebrations finish, there are plenty of sights you should add to your itinerary.
Sydney Aquarium, the Sydney Opera House, the Powerhouse Museum and Taronga Zoo are just a few of the attractions you might want to see on your getaway to the city.
