- The DuSable Museum of African American History (dusablemuseum.org) celebrates Black History throughout the year. During Black History Month, special celebrations are held, including workshops that introduce youth and children to African American History in Chicago, and throughout America.
- The exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry (msichicago.org) celebrates Black History Month with an exhibit featuring the achievements of African Americans. This exhibit varies from year to year.
- The Jubilation dance and music performance at the Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre (cerquarivera.org) runs each year with a performance that celebrates early African American pioneers, and their impact on America.
- For one afternoon each February, Navy Pier (navypier.com) becomes "Africa in Chicago." Local African American performers are celebrated, and provide the entertainment at the pier.
- Events throughout the month of February are planned in the Chicago Park District (chicagoparkdistrict.com). Many of them have low admission costs, or are completely free. The events include music, spoken word, dance and cuisine and there is a range of activities for all ages. The events change each year.
