- 1). Turn the tuning knobs at the head of the guitar to remove or substantially loosen all guitar strings. Turn the knobs until the strings are unwound from the tuning pegs. Remove the strings from the tuning pegs, then remove the lower end of the string to completely remove the strings.
- 2). Raise the bridge. Turn the two adjustment screws counterclockwise at each end of the bridge with the screwdriver.
- 3). Tighten or reinstall the guitar strings to check the bridge height. Repeat the process if the bridge remains too low. Turn the screws clockwise to lower the bridge, if necessary.
- 4). Reinstall the strings if you haven't done so. Thread the strings through the tuning pegs and tighten them, beginning from the bridge position. Re-tune the guitar with a tuning fork or electric tuner. Gibson suggests starting at the outermost strings to tune the guitar.
