• The Caribbean Flamingo, or Phoenicopterus ruber ruber, lives in salty lagoons, coastal/inland shallow lakes, and mud flats of the Northern and Southern islands in the Caribbean Sea, the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and parts of northern South America.

• The Greater Flamingo, or Phoenicopterus ruber roseus, lives near streams, shallow salty lakes and alkaline lakes of northeastern, western, and southern Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, India and the Middle East.
  
  

Chilean Flamingo

• The Chilean Flamingo, or Phoenicopterus chilensis, lives in salty or alkaline lakes or vegetation-free lagoons, mangrove swamps, tidal regions, and sandy islands of Central Peru, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.
