- In 1946, Soichiro Honda founded the Honda Technical Research Institute, and began creating two-stroke engines. From there, came the A-type bicycle engine in 1947, and other cars, trucks and motorcycles that gained a reputation for being reliable and durable. The 1996 Honda Nighthawk 750 is no exception.
- The engine for the 1996 Honda Nighthawk is 757 cubic centimeters. The four-stroke engine is air-cooled and has four cylinders that are lined up. The bore and stroke of the each cylinder are 67 and 53 mm, respectively. The engine has 75 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 47.2 ft.-lb. of torque at 7,500 rpm.
