I know by reading the title you are probably thinking what is the point of me writing this article. Well I personally believe that making a good cup of tea is an art form as crazy as it may sound. Do not be fooled by claims that the secret to a perfect cup of tea, is in the teabag.
This is true to a certain to degree, but other factors do come into play that lead to the formation of the perfect cup of tea.
First thing to do is fill your cup with an inch of boiling hot water. Once you have done this take your teabag and place it in the cup and stir for approximately 1 minute. Once completed remove teabag, and resume filling cup with hot water to a suitable level, then return the teabag to the cup and stir for a further 1 minute.
During this last period of 1 minutes occasionaly stop and let the teabag rest for 5 seconds before continuing to stir. This insures the flavour from the teabag settles in the cup when you do decide to finally remove the teabag.
I personally buy a weak type of tea and leave the teabag in my cup while I consume it. This ensures I get a full flavoured cup of tea rather than a cup of tasteless hot water. It has been proven that sugar counter acts the flavour of a teabag, so if you really want to taste the full flavour I suggest using a sweetner instead.
Now for those that have milk with their tea, semi skimmed is the best choice. Full fat milk destroys the real flavour of the tea as well as providing gas if consumed in large amounts due to the mix of chemicals in the milk and herbal properties of the teabag.
Funnily enough most of you will already know everything I'am telling you, in fact in latin cultures tea is taken mostly with no milk and is consumed with a teaspoon.
So next time you feel adventurous and have time to spare follow my guidelines, put your feet up and try a perfect cup of tea.
